Challenge
The tourism sector in the Algarve must adapt to emerging global expectations for personalized, efficient, and sustainable visitor experiences. Despite growing interest in AI and robotics, regional stakeholders face limited access to tech-based knowledge, applicable case studies, and tailored implementation tools. Aligning global technological trends with local business needs and policy objectives presents a key challenge.
Methodology
- Approach: A structured, multi-phased methodology was used, combining global trend analysis, regional case studies, and tailored solution mapping to guide tourism stakeholders.
- Tools Used: Technology landscape reviews, stakeholder consultations, cost-benefit assessments, and implementation roadmaps.
- Collaboration: The project was developed by The Icon, Lda. and Phibon I/S in cooperation with regional tourism actors, ensuring alignment with the Algarve’s socio-economic and policy contexts.
Solution
Phibon contributed to a comprehensive guide that enables tourism stakeholders to identify, assess, and implement AI and robotics technologies. The solution includes:
